Bond - Play (Universal)

THEY’RE sexy, sassy and can bend a string or two.

Classical-pop quartet Bond has drawn plenty of new fans to classical music and helped create a genre in which pop music intersects with classical sounds.

Even better, they’re quarter Aussie with first violinist Tania Davis hailing from Sydney.

On Play, the girls continue their energetic reimaginations with the middle eastern-themed Pussycat Dolls hit Jai Ho scoring early points and the Stones’ Last Time (which became the basis for The Verve’s Bittersweet Symphony) proving perfect for the girls’ style.

A duelling-violin take on the Black Eyed Peas’ Tarantino-esque Pump It is a definite highlight from the four-piece while Vivaldi standards Summer and Winter also make their lively presence felt.

And Bond Goes Gaga is a ripper medley showcasing the first Lady of pop’s hit tunes.

RATING: ★★★

IN SHORT: Four-play
