Justin Bieber - Under The Mistletoe (Universal)

Justin Bieber - Under The Mistletoe (Universal)

FORGET the paternity suit, it’s all about the Santa suit for Justin Bieber.

One of the first of an avalanche of silly season albums, Under The Mistletoe combines classic Chrissy tunes with several newly-penned yuletide themes.

The bad news is that J-Beeb has teamed with Mariah Carey to recreate the annoying All I Want For Christmas.

Cue vocal gymnastics and shopping centre PAs.

The good news (yep, there’s good news), is that several of the original tracks here are decent — soulful, acoustic numbers such as the title track and the opener Only Thing I Get For Christmas.

Fa La La, a funky duet with Boyz II Men is not as good as you’d hope but JB and Usher do the Mel Torme standard The Christmas Song quite proud.

And, get this, Busta Rhymes spits a rap over a tribal take on Little Drummer Boy.

RATING: ★★★½

IN SHORT: Baby, baby, baby (Jesus)
