Megadeth - Th1rt3en (Roadrunner)

GROWING up in the 1980s, you almost had to feel for Dave Mustaine.

A founding member of Metallica but fired before they hit it big, Mustaine has always seemed like the red-headed step-child, despite his band Megadeth considered among the big four of thrash metal (Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax).

Th1rt3en harks back to the band’s classic sound while placing its feet squarely in 2011.

String-stretching opener Sudden Death has already appeared in Guitar Hero and is a solid reintroduction to one of metal’s most enduring acts.

Public Enemy #1 is relatively commercial for the ‘Deth but showcases that incomparable Mustaine voice as Chris Broderick rips the solos.

New World Order is more classic-sounding and the closer, and title track, is moody, haunting and epic.

RATING: ★★★★

IN SHORT: ... Business is good
