POWDERFINGER’s last CD, Dream Days At The Hotel Existence was a disappointment to many.
The band played it too safe, some thought, it was Finger-by-numbers, others said.
Now, on what is loosely rumoured to be their last band CD, the spark is well and truly back.
Golden Rule is Powder-
finger’s 7th album and sees the Brissy boys dabbling with a variety of sounds and instruments.
New single Burn Your Name is an instant Powderfinger classic — a love song disguised as a jangly, soaring rocker.
A Fight About Money is a slow builder that peaks brilliantly, while Iberian Dream is a bold, brassy anthem — check the trumpet work — that will work a treat in the live arena.
Ditto for Stand Yourself which recalls the Finger of yesteryear.
And the title-track closer is a lovely tune to end on.
