LISTENING to Tom Jordan’s self-titled debut, I can’t seem to get over one fact.
He’s just 16.
It hardly seems the work of a teen and that’s reason why the Sydneysider is considered one of this country’s best new talents.
Describing his sound as a cross between Jason Mraz and John Mayer, Jordan’s debut stands up to his lofty self-comparisons and is the perfect companion to a lazy arvo.
Opener Someone Somewhere is light and breezy while is successor 35 Words Of Wisdom belies Jordan’s years and is an easy selection as an album highlight.
Jordan knows how to rock, albeit gently, on Sweetheart of Mine and Love She Don’t Live Here, the latter with splatters of funk.
And Coldplay fans are likely to really dig the atmospheric ballad Where’d I Go Wrong.
