Van Halen - A Different Kind Of Truth (Universal)

Van Halen - A Different Kind Of Truth (Universal)

THEY’RE one of America’s best selling bands, Eddie van Halen is arguably the world’s most influential guitarist and they haven’t released a new record in 14 years.

Oh yeah, and some guy named David Lee Roth is back on vocals.

A new Van Halen CD is big news for dedicated fans of the band and Roth, who initially parted company in 1985 after hits like Jump and Panama.

Also the first CD to feature Eddie’s son Wolfgang on bass, A Different Kind Of Truth is steeped in a classic VH sound.

Eddie is at his finger-blazing best on throwback anthems like She’s The Woman, China Town and Tattoo, the striking new single with the equally lame lyrics.

Roth is Roth. The eccentric frontman finding his groove on the pacy Bullethead and Stay Frosty — four minutes of wacky, swinging, folk metal.

RATING: ★★★½

IN SHORT: Ripping

The more you listen to this Album, you realize what incredible chemistry the core of the group has. Van Halen gives Hard Rock it's meaning. If listening on a laptops horrid speakers not the same. Need a headset or a car stereo. 5 tracks are unfinished songs from demo tapes. The group went back and finished them. Amazing the creative output of Eddie Van Halen. He claims to have 7 albums of material in the vaults. The real surprise is Wolfgang Vanhalen on bass guitar and back ground vocals. The entire album would hang with the best the band has ever output.
