Sandgreens competition in Grenfell next week

11/08/2006 10:19:27 AM
Next Wednesday and Thursday Grenfell will be host club for the NSW Sandgreens Tournament.

We are honoured to have been chosen as the venue for this prestigious event, as players from all over NSW will be playing in this tournament.

We would like to thank our greenkeeper, Paul O'Brien, and the members who have been working up on the course over the last few months to get it in first class order.

Last Saturday we played a 4B Multiplier for C. Stevens and J. Small Trophies.

There were some great scores recorde with Virginia Drogemuller and Val Forsyth emerging winners with 78 points.

Well done ladies, and thank you Colleen and Jean for donating the trophies.

A couple of younger players, Freuin Forsyth and Megan Starr were runners up with 76 points.

Third place went to a long standing pair, Barbara Bean and Nancy Bradtke.

Unfortunately, there was no NTP or any gobbles or birdies.

There were no ladies playing on our local course last Sunday, but a contingent of ten ladies jo7urneyed out to Caragabal to take part in their Open Tournament,

It was quite a successful day for them

Val Forsyth took out the 18 Holes Scratch Event in A Grade on a countback from Virginia Drogemuller. Both players had 88 off the stick. Virginia also won the longest drive.

Winners were Megan Starr in 18 Holes B Grade Stableford, Freuin Forsyth for the best nine holes nett score in C Grade and Jean Small wont eh trophy for 36-45 markers. Well done ladies. Just as well we had the bus to bring those trophies home.

On Wednesday, August 2 we played an 18 Holes Par Event in one grade.

Nancy Bradtke was the winner finishing all square. Pauline Thompson was runner up with -1, and Pat Aston filled third place with -2.

There was no NTP but Pauline recorded a gobble on 10th.

It was pleasing the see Beth Taylor putting in a card. Welcome back Beth, and we are looking forward to you taking part in our competitions in the near future.

Remember, Barry parker is always willing to help anyone wishing to learn this crazy game or just wanting to correct a fault or two. You can find him out at the club any Saturday morning.

Tomorrow we play a Stableford with V Drogemuller starter.

On Sunday M. Starr is starter for a 4BBB Konica Cup, and of course on Wednesday and Thursday, August 16 and 17 we are to host the NSW Sandgreens.

Until next week, good golfing ladies.
