Visitors win stableford 4BBB

24/09/2004 11:36:36 AM
A 4BBB stableford was played last Saturday at the Singleton Golf Course. The winning teams had no trouble producing some low scores.

A visiting group from the Central Coast were the lucky winners of the day's event.

Peter Parkhill and Peter Blackwood, both from Morisset, teamed up to shoot 49 points.

They also set a new record for celebrating their win!

Dave Frith once again managed to feature at presentation time - this time with partner Peter Gottwaltz.

Their team score was 48 points and secured them second place on a countback from the fast finishing Ian Smith and Greg Cooper.

The Secret 9 was run and won by Alan Holz and Peter Eason, Rick Janssen and Peter Vitnell and Cheryl and Dave Thomson.

Sunday saw the running of this year's Holden Scramble.

The event received generous sponsorship from the team at Lancaster Holden, Bridgestone and Schweppes.

The winners were Lancaster's own Dustin Knight, Gai Stearman and Alison Hoy.

Their winning score of 56 1/6 was victorious but only 1/6 of a shot from Wayne Rutter, Bob Jones and Joe Baker.

The top eight scores were within one stroke of the winners.

The winning team advances to the regional finals to be played at The Vintage on October 25.

The 2004 Rotary Charity Day set down for September 26 has been postponed until November 14.

The time sheet is on the notice board so get your name entered and support this important fundraiser.

The club championship time sheet is in the Pro Shop. Entries are now being accepted. The entry fee of $60 is due for payment before October 1.

Coming events: Saturday, September 25, Individual Stroke.

October monthly mug sponsored by Cole Air on Saturday, October 2.

Pro's Tip of the Week: Most players think their club face is square to their target line when they putt. Unfortunately most are not. By having a straight line drawn on your ball and aligned to the hole it becomes very obvious if your alignment is out.
