LABOR candidate for Bega Wilma Chinnock says she is continuing her bid to get financial support for enclosing the Pambula pool.
She said she had gained an interview between Daryl Dobson and Senator Kate Lundy, the Federal Shadow Minister for Sport, on the issue.
"I was contacted by Daryl Dobson in December last year to gain my support for this fantastic project," Ms Chinnock said.
"Unfortunately it was too late in the grant application process but I put in a detailed letter of support to the State government.
"I was disappointed that the Pambula pool project did not receive funding.
"My talks with the Department of Sport and Recreation were very well received and I encourage the Pambula Pool committee to submit their application again this year.
"I will give it my greatest support because this project is good for health, good for the youth of the district and good for sport and fitness rehabilitation," Ms Chinnock said.
She said she had received a detailed submission from the Pambula pool committee which she had gone through it with Senator Lundy and organised a meeting between Mr Dobson and Senator Lunday on March 23 to discuss the support the Shadow Minister can give to receiving Federal funding for the pool project.
"I will also continue to work hard to get funding from the State Labor Government to enable this pool to be heated and enclosed as quickly as possible," Ms Chinnock said.
