 Rotation prevents injury

Rotation prevents injury

01 Feb, 2012 11:32 AM
If you are still dragging on your old favourite pair of runners you’ve had for years, chances are you’re risking injury and it’s time for a new pair.

The Athlete’s Foot in Dean Street, Albury is just the place to find the right fit.

Store manager Ewan Tope said its revolutionary Fitprint system measures pressure which allows staff members to select the perfect shoe for customers.

“Every foot is different,” Mr Tope said, “so we ensure that we measure both feet.

“For example, 10 per cent of the population has feet that roll in.

“It is important that you have the right supportive device,” he said.

“We normally recommend six to 12 month rotation, depending on who you are and what you are doing.”

Mr Tope said manufacturers recommended from 800kms to 1000kms for a pair of shoes but most shoes start wearing out from 700kms.

“We always recommend 650kms to 1000kms depending on how you go, which usually works out at six to 12 months,” he said.

“If it is any longer, you run a greater risk of injury because the shoe is no longer suited for your foot.”

Mr Tope said The Athlete’s Foot stocked shoes for children as well as adults, catering for all kinds of sport – from indoor soccer, netball, cross trainers and more. Barefoot running shoes are also new to the store.
