THE Albury Gold Cup is headed south after Cape D'Amore won the Border's richest race in a thrilling finish this afternoon.

Trained at Mornington by David Brideoake, the Melbourne-owned four-year-old flashed home to grab heavily-backed favourite Bolle by a short half-head.

Bolle was ridden by leading jockey Glen Boss.

Corowa long shot Aussie Bomber ran the race of his life to finish third, looming as the winner 300m from the post as he overtook leader, Grand Commander.
