A meaty catch at Myrtleford

04 Feb, 2012 12:00 AM
A MYRTLEFORD man has been charged with 21 counts of burglary and theft after a spate of burglaries in the town.

Police will allege the man was responsible for two burglaries at the Myrtleford Savoy Club in the past week, which netted him bacon, prosciutto, ham, porterhouse steak, schnitzel, salad and spirits.

Police allegedly found some of the stolen meat in the man’s fridge.

They will allege he was also responsible for several other burglaries on businesses including Dickens Real Estate, Myrtleford Swimming Pool, an optometrist and motel.

Police recovered some of the stolen property.

The 27-year-old was remanded in custody on Thursday to appear at Wangaratta Magistrates’ Court on February 27.

Another Myrtleford man, 24, was charged with handling stolen goods and was bailed to appear on the same date.
