Acid attack wrecks excavator

04 Feb, 2012 12:00 AM
POLICE are appealing for witnesses after someone poured a corrosive liquid into an excavator’s lubrication system, causing more than $100,000 damage.

The excavator was parked in a gravel pit at Tungamah in November.

In what police believe was a targeted attack the corrosive liquid ruined the engine when the vehicle was turned on.

The new excavator, which belonged to Goldman Excavations, was insured.

Detective Sen-Constable Jason Williams said police wanted to hear from anyone who saw suspicious activity near the gravel pit in School Road, Tungamah, around November 7 last year, to contact them on (03) 5871 1977 or CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.
