WODONGA residents will get the chance to sample a taste of Africa without leaving their home town next month.
An African cultural night will be held at the Wodonga Civic Centre.
This will be done as a way to celebrate the growing population of African Australians who now call the Border their home.
The event will be held by the African Union Albury Wodonga.
The organisation compromises representatives from eight African countries.
They speak more than 10 languages between them.
“The night will be about celebrating our African heritage, being part of the fabric of Australian multi-cultural society,” the union’s president Uba Nwose said.
“We will be preparing a variety of African cuisines from across the different countries for people to sample and a local African choir will be singing.”
The African Union Albury Wodonga was formed about six months ago.
The aim was to promote the diversity of African culture and to also help the country’s migrants settle into Australia.
The cultural night has been sponsored by Wodonga Council.
It will be held from 6.30pm on Friday, December 4.
