 Boil water notice for Harrietville

Boil water notice for Harrietville

07 Sep, 2010 10:46 AM
NORTH East Water has introduced a boil water notice for Harrietville due to high levels of turbidity in the Ovens River and Simmons Creek.

Residents are urged to boil their drinking water for at least one minute prior to use.

The Yackandandah wastewater treatment plant has been impacted by flood water, with a sharp increase in the volume of water entering the network.

From today, this plant will discharge treated sewage from the winter storage. Anyone extracting water from the Yackandandah Creek downstream of the wastewater treatment plant should boil the water for at least one minute prior to domestic use.

Emergency stage 4 water restrictions have been introduced for Bundalong due to an increase in turbidity in the Ovens River as it enters Lake Mulwala.

Similar water restrictions remain in place at Walwa where there has been damage to the raw water main.

Boil water notices remain in place at Myrtleford, Bright, Porepunkah and Wandiligong.

There are no notices in place in Benalla or Wangaratta.

North East Water expects that in some areas untreated sewage will enter the Broken and Ovens rivers.

Anyone downstream who extracts water for domestic purposes should boil their water for one minute.

Anyone with concerns about their water supply or wastewater services should contact North East Water on 1300 361 644.
