TWO brothers will be charged for an alleged assault on a student in Wodonga.
Sen-Constable Mick Bourke, of Wodonga police, said the student, 16, was punched in the face by two males near the bus stop outside Catholic College on Tuesday.
Another student, also 16, was allegedly the main instigator while his 18-year-old brother, who does not attend the school, also hit the victim.
Sen-Constable Bourke said the incident in Silva Drive occurred about 3.30pm and was broken up by people who were picking children up from the school.
The student was taken to Wodonga Hospital.
The youngest alleged attacker was suspended from school.
He has also been charged with intentionally and recklessly cause injury, assault in company and unlawful assault.
Sen-Constable Bourke said his brother was expected to be charged with the same offences today.
“It’s been a school yard incident that’s spilled outside of school and with other parties involved,” he said.
“These sorts of incidents are not going to be tolerated by police and schools and we’re working together to make sure we patrol the area and keep these sorts of issues under control.”
