The Glenrock scout camp is a place where all scouts can go and enjoy their weekend.
The camp has beautiful scenery where scouts can take pleasure in the peaceful bush lands and views of Glenrock lagoon.
Camp resident and Cardiff Cub Scout leader Nicole Carr says scouts come from many areas to camp at Glenrock.
“Scouts from the Hunter and Coastal region come here and even some groups from Sydney. They get here and just fall in love with it.”
But the camp is not all about relaxing; the scouts participate in a variety of activities.
“The camp teaches scouts how to be independent, they get to sit around a camp fire and scout leader training occurs here too.”
Mrs Carr has lived at the scout camp for 18 months with her husband and young children who are all in scout groups.
Although she is not the caretaker of the camp, she does look after the place.
She makes sure scout groups and their leaders treat the camp with respect and checks the many groups that visit the camp in and out.
“I meet the groups and check them in. We’re just on site. I would say that well more than 100 scout groups visit the camp a year.”
