DESPITE having worked as an orthopaedic surgeon for many years Dr Geoffrey Mutton still finds joy in giving people a better quality of life through joint replacement.

Dr Mutton’s long-term contribution to the rural community has been acknowledged by the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA) who recently awarded him a medal for meritorious Service.

According to Dr Mutton his career in orthopaedics has been varied and allowed him to treat a range of different patients and conditions on a daily basis.

Over the years he’s treated everything from children with foot deformities to complicated trauma, spinal surgery and arthroplasty.

“While most people nowadays choose to specialise I was trained to do everything,” said Dr Mutton.

According to a statement from the AOA Dr Mutton is a “true generalist”.

“[He is] an orthopaedic surgeon of boundless energy with a photographic memory for facts, events and names, he has served his community in an outstanding manner.”

Coming from a small country town, I was extremely fortunate to be treated by Dr Mutton on a number of occassions. I can only speak highly of such a extremely excellent surgeon who has his patients well being at heart. I wish to congratulate Dr Mutton on his award. Well deserved.
