Driver hits toilet block in "silly accident"

05 Feb, 2010 10:35 AM
A WOMAN crashed her car into the toilet block at the Albury Botanic Gardens this morning.

Chris Newton, of Springdale Heights, said it was a “very silly accident” where she hit the accelerator instead of the brake.

It caused her 1985 Mercedes Benz to plough into an ornamental pillar at the front of the building.

Ms Newton, 57, of Springdale Heights, said she had been parking her car to attend a doctor’s appointment at the Gardens Medical Centre in Wodonga Place.

No one was injured in the accident, which happened about 9am, and police ruled out alcohol as a contributing factor.

Albury Council was this morning working to secure the site and getting works underway to repair the damage.
