MORE than 200 job losses at Lavington's Drivetrain gearbox factory have been made official.
Workers this morning spent less than a 40 minutes at a meeting where they learned their fate through envelopes with their names on.
A thin envelope meant the employee still had a job, while a thick envelope spelled the end of their career at DSI.
The thickness was the result of separation papers and brochures about Centrelink assistance being included in the envelopes.
Some workers decided not to open their envelopes immediately, taking them home to find out what they held.
As forecast last Friday, 208 workers have been made redundant with 131 to remain.
They are expected to resume work on March 9, but only for eight weeks to finish a Ford contract.
NSW Regional Development Minister Phil Costa addressed workers and said the NSW Government would offer assistance.
The receiver for Drivetrain has agreed to a union request to fast track application for Federal Government assistance.
