A FORMER Albury man who rolled his car, hit three trees and later registered a blood-alcohol reading of 0.258 was yesterday given a six-month suspended jail sentence.
James Bisogni appeared in Albury Local Court for sentencing with a video link to magistrate Megan Greenwood who was presiding at Wagga.
Ms Greenwood had previously ordered a report to see whether Bisogni was suitable for an intensive corrections order.
But his solicitor, Paul Robb, said Bisogni, 23, was deemed unsuitable because he had moved from Albury to Barooga to live with his parents.
Bisogni was driving on the Riverina Highway near Howlong on June 12 when his car veered onto the gravel verge.
He overcorrected and ended up rolling the car several times and hitting trees.
Ms Greenwood said Bisogni had good prospects of rehabilitation, but the only appropriate sentence was a jail term.
She ordered him to have drug, alcohol and mental health counselling.
Bisogni was disqualified from driving two years.
