He reckons this year’s weather has something to do with his 20-year-old tree suddenly producing some lemon monsters.

Until last year, the tree produced plenty of lemons.

But the fruit were all of a relatively normal size.

The two big ones it produced last year surprised him but they were only about half the size of his latest jumbo fruit.

“I’ve talked to a lot of people and they all say there is an abundance of lemons, they’re everywhere,” he said.

Apart from the wet season Mr Edgar said he had no idea why there were so many lemons around and why he has suddenly started growing big ones.

“Just a real good prune, a little chicken manure and plenty of water,” he said.

Mr Edgar has given his lemon to JT’s Takeaway in Ebden Street, Albury where it is now on display.

Then it will go to a noble use — cut up into wedges to be squeezed on takeaway fish orders.
