Amie Godde, from Albury, and Katrina Chambers, from Wagga, have been building and renovating homes together for more than 10 years.
Their passion to make old things new again encouraged them to audition for their favourite show, in its fourth season.
Mrs Godde said they could hardly believe it when they were told they would be one of eight pairs competing on the show, to air on WIN TV next Monday.
“We were hysterical when we found out,” Mrs Godde said.
“But at the same time we were a bit wary because we’ve both got kids and all of a sudden it became real.
“We started to wonder, how are we going to do this?
“But we’ve got a team of people, husbands and family who have definitely had a major role in how this has happened for us.”
Of the eight teams competing, six are pairs of men and women, with the two other teams being pairs of sisters.
Mrs Godde said while they were disadvantaged in terms of physical strength, a pair of women offered advantages, too.
“Having two women can be an advantage because we’re both very organised and know how to delegate,” she said.
“We don’t have the physical strength of males.
“But we know what our limits are.
“It’s great for two mums to be doing this, in what really is a men-dominated job in building and renovating, so it’s great.”
The sisters, who have built and renovated four houses between them, two in Albury and two in Wagga, said their close relationship could be a competitive advantage.
“We’ve got the same vision, we both like the same things,” Mrs Godde said.
“It’s not like we argue or clash with different opinions.
“We’ve been renovating together for years so we know each other well.
“It will definitely be an advantage because we don’t have to battle to convince each other, and we don’t have to do things together all the time, we trust each other’s choices.
“And being sisters as well we have our own secret little language so it works well for us.”
Mrs Godde said both she and her sister were nervous about seeing themselves on TV next week.
“It’s a bit nerve-racking.
“But you’ve just got to be yourself, we can’t be anything else than ourselves.”
“It’s amazing we’re going to be on our favourite show.”
