Goward to put Hill Top complex

16/11/2008 12:52:00 PM
SHADOW Minister for Climate Change and Environment Pru Goward will place questions on the notice paper in Parliament this week concerning the amount of money that is to be allocated for the Southern Highlands Regional Shooting Complex.

Ms Goward said given the current financial crisis, a multimillion dollar shooting complex was a luxury the State could ill afford.

“I wonder about the investment return of allocating millions of dollars to a single sporting project,” Ms Goward said.

“While the purpose of the regional shooting complex is to incorporate a number of smaller shooting clubs, I’m not convinced that even with that amalgamation such expenditure can be justified.

“Improvements to health, education and essential services are all under a cloud with the NSW Labor Government set to run a red pen through previously made commitments to improve these services."

Without being able to access the full story on the 14th it's hard to see any other slant on this other than Ms Goward is an enemy of Sporting Shooters and Hunters which despite her protests to coalition partners actions speak louder.

"Ms Goward said given the current financial crisis, a multimillion dollar shooting complex was a luxury the State could ill afford." Hill Top was the price set for the Shooter's Party to support the power sell off. The support of Shooter's Party MLCs is a luxury the Labor Party can ill afford to lose.

The Shooters aught to put their money where their mouth is if this activity is so innoxious and find a place within earshot of their own homes to shoot so their families can enjoy the fallout from their activity. Instead their NIMBY mentality puts 2500 poor souls in Hill Top who will have their homelife disturbed and their property values depreciated by this high noise impact, highly polluting "sport" in a situation they have no benefit from and don't want - read the facts - the Shooters are constantly misrepresenting the truth of this proposal.

16/12/2008 | So we now have desperate parents attempting to bribe teachers to get their children into a selective high school. What a sad indictment of our education policies, the holy grail of which is parental choice.
