Guyra Wool Producers Dominate Elders Premier Wool Clip Awards

20/11/2008 10:57:00 AM
The annual Elders Premier Wool clip of the sale presentation dinner for season 07/08 was held last week in Newcastle in conjunction with the November series of wool sales. The event was dominated by Guyra wool producers who were represented in every sale for last season.

The competition is open to every wool grower selling through the Elders Premier wool catalogue in each series of sale. A panel of five wool buyers, who represent all facets of the wool trade, nominate the clips they consider to be the best prepared for each sale, from these nominations the eventual placings are determined for each sale. At the completion of the wool selling season all growers who received a placing are rejudged by the panel of buyers and an overall supreme clip is selected, along with an encouragement award.

The dinner presentation was attended by over 120 wool growers representing all areas in northern New South Wales. The award winners were announced progressively thought the evening culminating in the announcement of the Encouragement Award and Supreme Clip of the Season.

After much speculation by those in attendance the Supreme award went to Graham and Wendy Baxter of Tenterden with the Encouragement Award going to Jemminda Pastoral Company also of Tenterden.

The individual sale winners were presented with a woollen throw sourced from Elders Premier Wool Clients which was manufactured and processed by Waverly Woollen Mills in Tasmania, along with a brass statue of a ewe and lamb.

Other Guyra growers to be recognised on the night were Ascot Park Partners - Black Mountain, IL & L Hills – Guyra, DF & JA Pearson - Guyra, Murray Nielsen – Tenterden, RW & L Martin – Tenterden, Marshall Past Co – Guyra, Moxham Past Co - Black Mountain, DR & BI Cameron – Tenterden, HN & RJ Sanderson – Tenterden, HM, JA & T Schaefer, Guyra.

16/12/2008 | So we now have desperate parents attempting to bribe teachers to get their children into a selective high school. What a sad indictment of our education policies, the holy grail of which is parental choice.
