GET THEM TO BURRUM'! Help Burrumbuttock spread the word by posting a link of this story on Facebook and Twitter.
The English actor and model has already shown some interest in Burrumbuttock, tweeting about the tiny southern NSW village before flying to Australia to meet new love interest, Shane Warne.
“There are places called Wee Waa, Poowong, Burrunbuttock (sic) & Tittybong,” Hurley mused on Twitter while reading Bill Bryson’s book In a Sunburned Country.
Burrumbuttock residents have responded by offering Hurley and Warne the keys to the village.
“Liz Hurley please come and visit our town Burrumbuttock NSW … we are a small country farming community pop. 160, have a general store and a pub,” Farmers Inn Hotel owner Bron Riley and general store owner Sue Littlehales tweeted back.
Warne yesterday used Twitter to ask for lunch venue suggestions — “Where is the sexiest place to take Elizabeth for lunch?” he said — and Miss Riley said she has exactly what the Spin King needs.
“The chicken schnitzel's always popular and the T-bone has been going off this month,” Miss Riley said.
But what’s sexy about beef tenderloins, you may ask?
Pub regular Terry Richards has that covered.
“We’ll get a couple of the local blokes in and they’ll be happy to talk sexy,” he offered.
After lunch, Hurley and Warnie can check out the Wirramina Environment Centre or simply take in the “serenity” before returning to the pub for “one big party”.
“Happy hour is usually 6.30-7.30pm but we could make an exception to cater for Warnie and Elizabeth,” Miss Riley assured.
Hurley’s spirit of choice is reportedly vodka, which is convenient because Burrumbuttock is going through something of a vodka fad.
“We have a drink called the toffee apple, which is basically vodka and Midori,” Miss Riley said.
“We’d have a very happy night with a helluva crowd.”
The next morning — Mr Richards has offered his home for overnight accommodation — Burrumbuttock general store owner Ms Littlehales will provide the hangover cure.
“I’ll make them a Hurley Burger,” Ms Littlehales said.
“It’s basically a bacon and egg roll but with a secret ingredient.”
Hurley hadn’t replied to the Burrumbuttock tweet yesterday but Mr Richards said the town wouldn’t be too offended if she didn’t make it north.
“If she wants to come she can come, we’ll look after her, but if she doesn’t come that’s all right too, ’cos we’ve already got Bron,” he said.
