Judges, Darren McBride from McBride's Garden Centre and Lillian Walters who is Kalgoorlie-Boulder Urban Landcare Group (KBULG) nursery coordinator, were busy last week inspecting a record 31 entries in the KBULG's Waterwise Garden Competition. They are pictured assessing the newest garden area at the Australian Prospectors and Miners Hall of Fame. There were multiple entries in all but one of the six categories covering private, community, and commercial and industrial gardens. The judging criteria covered waterwise measures like plant choices, mulches and trickle irrigation, as well as colour and appearance and whether gardens attracted birds and butterflies. The winners are expected to be announced next week.
