Hunt on for Albury shooting clues

31 Aug, 2010 04:06 PM
POLICE have scoured the surrounds of a Glenroy home where a man was shot early today.

Officers descended on the neighbourhood bounding the Kurnell Street house this morning searching for clues into the shooting of a 27-year-old Wodonga man.

The victim has undergone emergency surgery following the shooting and is now in Melbourne's Alfred Hospital.

He received a single gun shot wound which went through one of his wrists and then penetrated his lower abdomen.

Did you hear the shots or know any information? CallThe Border Mail on 02 6024 0532 or leave a message below.

Albury Police are searching for a group of males who attended the North Albury house shortly before the shooting which happened at about 12.50am.

Markers were placed near the driveway of the Kurnell Street home, while officers dusted for fingerprints on a white Holden Commodore parked in the front yard.

A park opposite the home and a nearby open drain close to Burrows Road were also combed by a team of officers.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information on the matter is urged to contact Albury Police on 6023 9299 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Shame to see the police have stopped patrolling Glenroy's streets on the weekend. How silly is the police commissioner. Full time patrols have to be in place for the crime to stay quiet. This rampant behaviour is because all youth know the police are not around as much as they should be! Scanners also help with the timing of crimes!
