Kevin Bloody Wilson is on his way to shake up the Barossa.

He reckons that if you are easily offended you should steer clear of his gig at the Barossa Arts and Convention Centre.

“Arts and Kevin Bloody Wilson in the same sentence, who would have thought that would ever happen,” he said.

Even though he admits the Barossa is “beautiful country” he won’t stop at any wineries.

“I don’t enjoy wine, to tell you the truth,” he said. “I got sick on it as an 18-year-old and any tastebuds I had for it were destroyed.”

But when he found out there were micro-brewers based in the Barossa his ears pricked up.

“I’ll be looking for those f***ers.”

Kevin said the hardest thing about being in the Barossa will be trying to drag his ‘missus’ away at the end of their stay.

When the Kevin Bloody Wilson career began 25-years-ago he admits his show was “all for the boys”.

“The show is built around my music, but everyone pretty much gets a broadside,” he said.

“And nobody has been as surprised by my success more than me.”

Kevin Bloody Wilson does about 120 gigs each year, travelling right across world.

His career took off about 25-years-ago when he gave away his ‘straight’ act. Back in the early 80s he was better known as Dennis Bryant, had one job introducing strippers and drawing chook raffles on Fridays, and on Saturday would front up for his ‘straight’ gigs - playing for weddings and other social functions.

He said things got awkward when the guys who were on a buck show would see him at the wedding the following week.

“My last straight show was in Perth on a Saturday night in 1984. And the following Tuesday I was on stage at the Sydney Opera House as Kevin Bloody Wilson.”

The Herald has three double passes for the November 18 performance to giveaway to Kevin Bloody Wilson fans.

16/12/2008 | So we now have desperate parents attempting to bribe teachers to get their children into a selective high school. What a sad indictment of our education policies, the holy grail of which is parental choice.
