Man injured in Wangaratta explosion

A MAN, 23, is in a serious condition in a Melbourne hospital after an explosion ripped through his Wangaratta unit this morning.

The blast, which was heard at least 500m away, occurred about 11am at a Green Street unit near the corner of Docker Street.

Initial reports suggested that a gas canister had exploded in the unit.

Country Fire Authority investigators are on scene and have not yet confirmed the cuase of the explosion.
