IT'S Old Bar's biggest weekend of the year and the whole community is invited to join in the fun.
This weekend's Old Bar Beach Festival promises a busy program of activities with something to satisfy every member of the family.
The events run from early morning until well into the evening on both Saturday and Sunday so there's plenty of opportunity to socialise, be entertained, enjoy sumptuous food and celebrate all that is great about coastal living.
Venues for the celebration include areas surrounding Rushby Casino, the surf club, skate park, oval, tennis courts, football field, Club Old Bar and the beach, but the whole town will share the same festival spirit.
The fun starts at 8am tomorrow (Saturday) with the mega market and psychic fair, amusements, gourmet food and wine and beer tasting all continuing both days.
Entries taken at 8.15am Saturday for the fun run starting at 8.45am at the beach.
Saturday's entertainment highlights include Jay Saunders at 9am, water show at 9.30am and 1pm, roving stilt walkers from Circus Unique from 10am, Mr Hooker Bear visit at 11am, Springtide at 12.30pm, Slychology at 3pm, Hydrafonics at 5pm and Roy Little at 6pm.
The official opening will be performed by author Di Morrissey at the Rushby Stage at noon, while the rugby tens competition starts at 2pm with the finals at 7pm.
Skating will be a major part of Saturday's activities, with registrations for the skate jam at 9.30am and the event running from 10am to 3pm.
Numerology will be featured at 10am with surf skills at 11am, the same time as Mimi Love vibrational healing.
Surf club memorabilia will be on show in the surf club and a march past will take place at noon, while circus workshops with juggling and hoola hoops will feature on the football field at 12.30pm.
The afternoon line-up includes Lyn Ford intuition at 1pm, Amataria record keeping at 2pm and Christine Solamar crystal healing at 3pm.
A barbecue for Kombi owners and the community will be held at 6pm while there is a lantern parade at 7pm, followed by fire twirling and a moonlight movie.
On Sunday Kombis will marshall from 8am for a swap meet from 9am and a world record attempt for the most Kombis in one location from 2pm.
A surfing competition starts at 9am, with a Coastal Community Church Service from 9.30am.
Many of Saturday's entertainers - including stilt walkers, water show, Springtide, Hydrafonics, Slychology, Amataria, Christine Solamar, Lyn Ford and Mimi Love - will return on Sunday.
The $1000 shopping spree raffle will be drawn at 3pm and the Kombi raffle at 7pm, while a Sunday $6 roast is available from Club Old Bar from 5.30pm.
The club will also host a dance performance by the Old Bar Beachside Rockers from 6pm plus the broadcast of the NRL grand final.
Throughout the weekend look to the skies for aircraft taking part in celebrations at the heritage listed Old Bar airstrip.
