A WEBSITE offering support to bashing victim Larry Haifa has tripled in size in less than a day.
Late yesterday more than 1000 people from across the globe had signed up to the Facebook group Fight for Larry Haifa.
The West Albury fish and chip shop owner remains unconscious in the Royal Melbourne hospital five days after being brutally bashed on Albury’s Dean Street.
Yesterday words of support and encouragement continued to pour into the website.
Creator Andrea Georgiou says the group was created for those who wanted to help Larry fight the battle he had ahead of him.
“He was the victim of a senseless act; an act in which we all hope justice will be done,” she wrote on the website.
“I am inviting everyone who wants to, to post a comment which will be put together in a book to be read to Larry so he, and his family know, how much love and support there is for him.”
The website called for positive messages rather that recriminations.
“Please continue to post words of love and support, as well as even sharing stories of treasured and happy times,” Ms Georgiou wrote.
“I feel that it is important to keep all comments as uplifting as possible to aid Larry’s speedy recovery.
“Thanks for your kind words.”
The Facebook posts range from old school friends to those who have never met Mr Haifa.
Most are scathing of the senseless violence that led to his injuries.
Mr Haifa yesterday remained in a critical but stable condition after having surgery on Christmas Day to reduce pressure on his brain.
Police found Mr Haifa lying in Dean Street soon after he was refused entry to the Roi bar.
Detectives reviewing CCTV footage on Friday believed Mr Haifa had been attacked by a group, falling to the ground and hitting his head.
Mr Haifa worked in Mario’s West Albury Take Away, in Pemberton Street.
His family also operates Lavington eateries Jan’s Cafe, in Wagga Road, and DJ’s Pizza, in McDonald Road.
