Power problem cripples council

12 Mar, 2010 12:34 PM
WODONGA Council has had to shutdown its customer service centre this afternoon because of a power shutdown.

A cable casing in the basement of the council's headquarters in Hovell Street became loose from its housing this morning, prompting the electricity cut.

It means no transactions can be completed at the council and the North East Water customer centre in the same premises is also out of action.

The problem is not likely to be rectified this afternoon.

Many council employees have been forced to work from home because of the difficulty.
