Guyra Rotarian Wendy Mulligan is co-ordinating a program to donate Bras to women in Fiji, Vanuatu, Tonga and PNG.
“Operation Uplift” – an Australian Rotary program – has already sent 40,000 bras to women in third world countries through Rotary Donations in Kind.
Why Bras? Because third world women ask for them quietly and often. When moisture is trapped between the breast and the chest wall rashes, fungal infections and abscesses occur. Bras help by allowing air to circulate.
Many women live without a bra. A bra can cost about 10 hours in wages – which is beyond reach for most in third world countries where the vast majority of income is spent on food.
So how can Guyra ladies help Rotary? Donate any second-hand bras so that we may send them to countries like Fiji, Vanuatu, Tonga and PNG.
Drop off points are The Guyra Argus to Martha Weiderman or to Guyra MPS to Wendy Mulligan. All sizes and colours are welcome. Sporting bras for farm work and maternity bras are desperately needed.
