Great Western regional winemaker Seppelt has enjoyed success at the 2008 Ballarat Wine Show, winning two trophies and six gold medals.
Seppelt was awarded the Waller and Chester Trophy as the most successful exhibitor - Regional Wine Section - Classes 1 to 24 and its 2006 Jaluka Chardonnay won the Ballarat Beefsteak and Burgundy Club Trophy for the Best White Table Wine (Classes 1-4, 6-9, 15-18), and a gold medal.
The 2007 Jaluka Chardonnay, 2005 Drumborg Riesling and Victorian Cabernet Sauvignon won the top gold medals in their classes.
The 2006 Moyston Cabernet Sauvignon and Chalambar Shiraz were also awarded gold medals.
During 150 years of winemaking at Great Western, Seppelt has built a reputation for innovation and quality. Sourcing fruit from cool climate Victorian regions means the grapes take longer to ripen and retain more flavour, creating wines with refined and elegant structure.
Seppelt focuses purely on making great Victorian table and sparkling wines and has continued to build on its innovative Victorian winemaking heritage with a highly successful regional range which showcases central and Western Victoria's exceptional wine growing zones including Heathcote, Bendigo, Drumborg, and the Grampians.
``Our approach is to highlight the strength and characteristics of the regions and create varietally and regionally expressive wines,'' senior winemaker, Joanna Marsh said.
Seppelt at Great Western has a long and fascinating history and is renowned for its sparkling wines, particularly the Sparkling Shiraz and its quality table wines.
Its cellar door offers tours featuring the winerys famous drives, the thre kilometres labyrinth of tunnels excavated in the 1800s from granite beneath the winery.
