The NSW Roads and Traffic Authority will erect signs on the Hume Freeway’s bridge over the Murray River bearing the name.
Miss Welch won a competition to choose the bridge name in March.
She was among more than 300 people to nominate names in a competition sponsored by the RTA and The Border Mail.
Prime Minister John Howard announced the name when he opened the freeway on March 4.
Miss Welch’s late father, Bill, was a long-time fireman and later driver of the Spirit of Progress on the Albury-Melbourne run.
The all-steel streamlined train was inaugurated 70 years ago.
Names are yet to be chosen for three freeway footbridges that run between Borella Road and East Street.
