Taking Border generosity abroad

31 Jul, 2010 12:00 AM
PAM Schubert hopes to take the region’s generosity to 500 Sudanese children orphaned by war and disease.

A trivia night and silent auction night will be held tonight to raise money for mosquito nets and school back packs for children in two orphanages in Northern Sudan.

“What some of these kids have gone through is unbelievable, orphans as young as eight walking through Sudan with nothing on their feet after their parents have been killed and their homes burnt down,” Mrs Schubert said.

“We have so much and they have so little so I just feel like we need to share, we can always do our bit to help.”

Items for auction include a Queensland holiday, art and even a wedding dress.

The trivia starts at 7.15pm and there will be standing room as well as tables for the auction which begins at 7.50pm.

Tickets are $10, contact Mrs Schubert on (02) 6020 1163.
