A 35-year-old female school teacher was sentenced on Thursday in Bunbury District Court to 27 months jail for having sex with a 14-year-old boy.
The woman was a primary school teacher at the same school as the boy.
The woman started seeing the 14-year-old in July 2007 and the relationship continued up until February this year.
In handing down the sentence District Court Judge Andrew Stavrianou took into account the woman’s early plea and co-operation with the police, but was not persuaded a suspended sentence would be a suitable penalty.
The woman’s 27 month sentence was backdated to September 22.
With parole the woman could be out of jail in just over a year.
