Towns' tidy win

6/10/2008 9:01:00 AM
MOE and Morwell were recognised with three awards at the 2008 Keep Australia Beautiful state awards at the weekend.

Moe snatched two awards, taking out the the Sustainable Communities Tidy Towns Overall Judge's Commendation.

The judges had to decide between Horsham and Moe for the main award, with Horsham taking the prize.

Moe also received a state finalist 2008 award, while the Gippsland Immigration Wall of Recognition at Morwell won the Heritage and Culture Award.

Moe hosted the awards ceremony as winners of last year's award.

Marilyn May from Make Moe Glow said the group was ``thrilled'' with the results.

``It was a successful weekend, Latrobe City pulled out all stops and the turnout was bigger than last year,'' she said.

``It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the community.''
