POLICE were kept busy with two crashes on North East roads yesterday.
A caravan flipped while being towed by a car travelling north on the Hume Freeway between the Barnawartha and Chiltern exits about 2.45pm.
The van was destroyed but the three occupants of the car were uninjured, although paramedics treated a woman for shock.
Just before 6.30pm, two cars collided at the intersection of Gooramadda Road and the Howlong-Chiltern road south of the Murray River not far from Howlong.
Sen-Constable Glen Allerdice, of Wodonga traffic management unit, said investigations were continuing.
But he said initial inquiries indicated an early model Mercedes sedan travelling south on the Howlong-Chiltern road had failed to give way to a Holden sedan driving west on Gooramadda Road.
Both drivers, who were alone in their cars, were taken to hospital.
The Mercedes driver, a Cornishtown man in his late 50s, was taken to Albury hospital with head and suspected spinal injuries.
The Holden driver, a Wodonga man aged about 40, was taken to Wodonga hospital for assessment.
Both men were conscious and their vehicles were towed.
CFA volunteers provided assistance with traffic as the scene was cleared.
