Julie Quartermain, 66, and her husband Leon were enjoying the last days of a holiday at Dicky Beach when the accident happened about 3.30pm on Tuesday.
Mrs Quartermain was struck by a car on a roundabout and was taken to the Nambour hospital with critical injuries.
She died later that night.
Tributes have poured in for Mrs Quartermain who with her husband had recently moved to Wangaratta from Tarrawingee.
Mr Quartermain is a member of the Rotary Club of Appin Park, Wangaratta.
President Karen Harmon said Mrs Quartermain was a “lovely, gentle lady.”
“The whole club is devastated, it’s an absolute tragedy,” she said.
“She was a great support to her family and friends and will be dearly missed.”
Members of the club travelled to the Sunshine Coast to drive Mr Quartermain home.
“This is a difficult time but Rotary can provide that friendship and support,” Ms Harmon said.
Mrs Quartermain is survived by her two children and husband.
Her funeral will be held at Wangaratta next week, a day is yet to be confirmed.
Police are still investigating the cause of the crash but sources said early signs indicate Mrs Quartermain was already on the roundabout at the time of the collision.
The driver of the car, a Caloundra woman, 31, was not injured.
