You idiots: video footage of hoon's escape from police

22 Mar, 2010 04:32 PM
ONLINE footage has emerged of an alleged hoon driver performing a burn-out in front of a crowd of onlookers at Ettamogah before spectators aided his escape from police.

The clip, which has racked up more than 1100 views since being posted on video-sharing website YouTube late last week, yesterday drew the ire of a senior Albury policeman.

Moama motorist Adrian Froon, 23, was allegedly unlicensed and more than twice the legal alcohol limit when he performed the manoeuvre in front of an unmarked police car in his 1965 Chrysler Valiant on March 13.

Viewers of the 81-second YouTube video, labelled Valiant burnout VS NSW highway patrol Albury have had mixed reactions to the alleged behaviour of Froon, who was believed to have been on the Border for the Chryslers on the Murray event.

Some site users posted comments critical of such antics, including one who wrote: “No wonder the cops are clamping? down on hoon idiots ... the sooner they crush your cars the better”.

Yeah Great. Welcome back to Albury anytime.... Great for the tourists passing through enjoying a nice day at a local tourist attraction when this bunch turns up. Shame a few will spoil the chrysler event for everyone in the future. Gerry.

Well if we had a skid pan that townsfolks have been asking for years this might not have happened. MOTORSPORT has no local venues to use or hire out to groups branding us criminals for enjoying our given sport. pacifying us all into playing golf or cricket surely is not working so addressing the issue with some logic might - skidpan 1st to remove hoons from the streets, 2nd to save lives 3rd giving local motor enthusiats equal right to local ball sport enthusiats.

Well what,s your solution gerry spend millions more on the brendon fevola,s and andrew lovett,s ??.motorsport has less impact on girls an the community so grow up yourself an adress the issues maturely if possible not with emotion like that bible basher sciponie chief of the nanny state

grow up but it doesnt matter how old or young you are you still can have a passion some people's is motorsport and we still dont have a venues people wont stop it on the road or other areas till there is a proper venue to do there passion the council must do something about and the only way to stop it is a venue

Well gerry it appears you think with an emotional mindset and not a logical mindset.??does motorsport inflict atrosaties on the community like some football player,s? i provided ideas that seem to be ignored by the "leftist,s"of this town but at least i am not nieve thinking this problem will just dissapear. So you can keep your elderly agenda thanks as we are promised a separation from church an state ownership

What the morons who are sticking up for this hoon cannot get is that he was UNLICENCED so should not have even been in the car on a public road, and more than twice the legal alcohol limit, another reason he should have not been on the road, even he had a licence. I say crush the car, no matter who owns it, and disqualify these types of idiots not just for the short'"slap on the wrist" period that most get, but for a mandatory 3 years, even more if a repeat offender. Simple really. Just takes a Government with some backbone to legislate it, and most of the problem would disappear overnight. Maybe not in Albury though. The hoons do not have much between their ears in Albury to absorb much at all.

I am with Brian. Make an example of clowns like this as he he (as already pointed out) was unlicenced and twice the legal limit. Let alone not even from the local area. Police have a job to do too. It will only take one car to be crushed as a result of the driver being caught. I too love this sort of thing but their is a place for it. Certainly not it a public place with people with close unprotected proximaty. Let's consider if something went wrong an an innocent person go badly injured or worse still killed. This clown would certainly would not be branded a hero then would he? It certainly makes it hard when there is no legal venue where burn outs and drag racing is allowed. I am from SA and we are too fighting for a legalised venue for these types of activities. Governments (Local and State) need to recognise this.

joe blogs, let me point you in the right directions. First there is a local organisation called Albury Wodonga & Districts Car Club [http://www.awdcc.com.au/], join them and get access to controlled venues where you can prove your skills against the rest of us, many of whom are in excess of 50 years old. Come on show us oldies how good you youngsters really are! Second there is the local Winton Motor Raceway where they hold regular 'fun day' events open to anyone 16 and over with a car that passes scrutineers inspection and if you think you 'd like to step up a mark, get a AASA Club racing licence or higher or a CAMS Club licence or higher and attend the 'Test & Tune' day events. If none of that appeals to you, fool about on the streets, lose your licence and end up having your car confiscated. Your mates will think the world of you for that. The idiots who misbehaved at the Chrysler Club event are on their own, not supported by the club and probably won't be permitted back in future. I vote the confiscated Valiant gets donated to the Chrysler Car Club. There are many among that fine group who will make use of it. It deserves a better owner.
