THE Ice House now awaits the Wodonga Lady Wolves as they endeavour to follow up last week’s stirring North East Conference grand final win with victory in tonight’s country state grand final against Mount Gambier.
Playing at Mount Gambier’s home stadium, The Ice House, Wolves coach Mark De Koeyer said he didn’t know what to expect of the stadium or the opposition.
“I don’t know if they have the airconditioning on in there or if we just need to expect a cold reception from their home fans,” he said.
“I don’t know what to expect of their team, I know in games like this (between two different leagues) you’re really stepping into the great unknown.
“I don’t really know any of their players but the girls have told me they have two main shooters we’ll have to be wary of.”
De Koeyer labelled last week’s grand final win as one of the best games his team had played, but said his unchanged line-up would have less pressure on them tonight, despite the magnitude of what they were trying to do.
“There’s a little less pressure on us this week, definitely,” he said.
“A win would really cap-off a season of hard work and it would be a fitting reward for effort for the girls.”
