Wolves playing for homes finals

28 Jan, 2012 12:00 AM
WODONGA Wolves will be out to defeat Wangaratta at Wodonga on Sunday and consolidate their place at the top of the CBL North East Conference ladder.

In the last game of the regular season, the Wolves must defeat Wangaratta to ensure they play them again at home in the first week of the finals, rather than travel away.

Coach Mick Merrilees said he was confident his team could get the points without giving away too much of its game plan.

“We’ll have to combat their size, but we were able to do it last time when we won by 16 points,” he said.

“We’ll use this game to iron out a few kinks ... everyone is fit and healthy and we’re pretty much full strength.”

“If we win it’ll mean we play (Wangaratta) three times in a month but we think we can get the job done on Sunday without giving too much away.”

Merrilees said the good form of Broady Mills and Dylan West would go a long way to stopping Wangaratta’s talls.

“Mills was great last week as was West and we think they’ll manage to negate the play of their (talls),” he said.

“As it stands we’re on top of the ladder so if we can get one more win we stay on top and can enjoy two home finals.”
