WODONGA Wolves coach Mick Merrilees says his side will be looking to expose the fitness of the Pirates in tomorrow’s CBL encounter at Echuca Basketball Stadium.
With three games remaining the Border outfit still has hopes of finishing top of the North East Conference but it must win all three, starting with this weekend’s double- header on the road.
The second-placed Wolves travel to bottom-placed Deniliquin to face the Giants tonight before backing it up in Echuca tomorrow.
Merrilees expects the sixth-placed Pirates to be the tougher of the two and has strict plans in place for the clash.
“We will be looking to exploit Echuca’s inferior fitness, by pressing hard, especially late in quarter to try to establish an advantage and make Echuca chase us down,” he said.
The Wolves will rely on the experienced players.
Beau Sheridan, Chris Merrilees, Jack Duck, Heath Ohlin and captain Broady Mills will be asked to shoulder the bulk of the workload.
Meanwhile, the Lady Wolves will fancy their chances against bottom-placed Deniliquin and third-placed Echuca.
