TWENTY20 action returns at the weekend with provincial and district players heading back to their club sides for qualifying finals in the wake of the successful Charity Big Bash.
Four games are scheduled for tomorrow with six provincial teams and two district teams going head to head.
East Albury clash with St Patrick’s in the pick of the Twenty20s in what should be a battle of bat and ball.
St Patrick’s form batsman Pat Plummer said his side would need to be wary of the best bowling attack in the league.
“(East Albury) have got a couple of really good bowlers in Twenty20,” Plummer said.
“They’ve got Grant Lewis who bowls really full on middle and off and is really hard to get away and I don’t know much about (Brad) Neyland but we’ll have to be wary of him with the amount of wickets he’s taken this season.”
Plummer though is confident the batting strength of his team, which includes the likes of Trent Ball, Luke Restall and Casey Arendarcikas, can get the job done.
“I think we’ve got a pretty good Twenty20 line-up with a good mix of big hitters and blokes who can just push it around in the middle as well,” Plummer said.
In the remaining qualifying finals Yackandandah will have its work cut out when it takes on Tallangatta away at Rowen Park.
The district team has had an ordinary season so far but has managed to find form in the shortest form of the game.
Lavington will go into its match against New City at Bilson Oval as favourites and Wodonga Raiders will need to find another gear if they’re to knock off North Albury when they clash at Birallee Park.
