CRICKET Albury-Wodonga capped off an otherwise frustrating Konica-Minolta Cup campaign in impressive fashion yesterday, winning both of its final round matches.
With a finals berth all but out of the equation after a winless weekend in the previous round of the tournament following a fixturing nightmare, CAW still managed to finish the Twenty20 series in positive style against North Canberra and Leeton.
The Border outfit had little trouble hunting down North Canberra’s 90 in the first clash of the day, passing the total in the 12th over for the loss of just one wicket.
Trent Ball (46no), Pat Plummer (19) and Ian Roberts (15 not out) ensured the work of Liam Scammell (2-17), Jesse Griffiths (2-14) and Michael Booth (2-12) didn’t go to waste.
CAW then followed up with another strong victory in the second clash of the day, successfully chasing Leeton’s first innings score of 7-124.
Belvoir’s Murray Price (4-12) and Wodonga ace Roberts (50 not out) were the standout performers for CAW in its second win of the afternoon.
