Rand on a roll for 7 straight

28 Jan, 2012 12:00 AM
RAND will press for its seventh straight win today when it takes on Burrumbuttock in the match of the round.

With Adam, James, Chris and Mark Kreutzberger all set to line up for the competition favourites it will take a mighty effort from Burrumbuttock to deny its opponents yet another victory.

Dave Williams and Darcy I’Anson loom as potential match winners for Burrumbuttock with the bat, but unless at least one of them makes runs it’s hard to see an upset occurring as Rand has too much fire power.

Should Burrumbuttock push Rand it will be because Steven McCabe and I’Anson have had a good day with the ball.

In today’s other match, Balldale has a great chance to consolidate its second place on the ladder when it takes on Brocklesby.

With Brocklesby coming off the bye and Balldale match-hardened after a tough hit out against Rand last week, expect Balldale to get the points.

All-rounder Doug Lavis has a great chance to continue his good form with the bat for Balldale and should receive assistance from young opener Patrick Mitchell, who is coming off a well made 58.

For Brocklesby, Mitch Koschitzke will have to fire with the bat if his side is to have any chance of making a competitive total.

He will need bowlers Rowan Evans and Alex Takle to have a good day with the ball.

Oaklands have a bye.
