Lamb returns for Dogs

21 Jul, 2009 12:00 AM
CLASSY Wodonga defender Michael Lamb will make his long-awaited comeback against North Albury at John Flower Oval on Saturday.

Lamb returned from an overseas trip last Friday and coach Jarrod Twitt said yesterday he would line up in the reserves after a week on the training track.

Lamb, who last played for Wodonga in 2006, lodged a clearance to rejoin the Bulldogs in May when he was cleared from the Southern Football League in Tasmania.

Wodonga will regain utility Chris Macey from a broken nose for Saturday’s clash and midfielder Matt Shir is a chance of returning from a calf injury.

Fullback Dean Murphy has escaped serious ligament damage to his ankle and will miss this weekend’s crunch match.

“We were a bit nervous, but the ligaments weren’t torn,” Twitt said.

“He’s doubtful this week and should be right the week after.”

Murphy was stretchered from the ground in the third quarter against Wodonga Raiders and it was initially feared he may miss the rest of the season.
