O and M: Bulldogs sign up Hallinan and Lamb

WODONGA has compensated for missing out on Belconnen defender Rhys McAlister by signing talented Murray Bushranger Dane Hallinan and former defender Michael Lamb.

McAlister has been in negotiations with the Ovens and Murray club for several weeks but told the Bulldogs yesterday he would be staying in Canberra for another season.

Although coach Jarrod Twitt said yesterday he was disappointed to miss out on the ACT representative, he believes exciting times are ahead at John Flower Oval with Hallinan and Lamb coming on board.

“They are going to be very handy,” Twitt said.

“Dane’s a similar type to Nathan Laracy and will probably take his spot, while ‘Lamby’ has played for the O and M before and will be great down back.

“Even though we have had a big turnover, the side has come together fairly well.”

Hallinan was a star junior at Kiewa-Sandy Creek before joining the Murray Bushrangers and will be joined in the Bulldogs’ line-up by TAC Cup teammates Jarrod Hodgkin, Sam Myors and Josh Hicks.

Defender Luke Trew is uncertain about his playing future.

“We’re not sure yet, but I wouldn’t rule him out,” Twitt said.
